Expertise in Instantaneous Electric Water Heaters
1. Requirements for the power cord
(1) The power cord is generally composed of three types, red or brown for the live wire, blue for the neutral wire, and yellow and green for the ground wire.
(2) At the entrance of the power cord, the ground wire is the longest, followed by the neutral wire and the live wire. This is for safety reasons. It is to ensure that when the power cord is loose, the live wire will be disconnected first, followed by the live wire. is the neutral wire, and the last disconnected is the ground wire.
(3) The wire ends of the power cord must ensure good contact. Solder cannot be used when connecting multi-strand wire ends, otherwise the oxidation of the solder and thermal expansion and contraction will cause poor contact.
2. Creepage distance and electrical clearance
The creepage distance is the distance that the current flows from the electrode to the non-charged metal parts along the insulating layer. The electrical clearance refers to the space distance between the electrode and the non-charged metal or between the two electrodes. The standard requires that the creepage distance should not be less than 4mm. , the electrical clearance should not be less than 3mm, which is why the electrodes of the heating tube should not be too close to the transformer, and the reason why the electrodes of the heating tube should be kept larger than 4mm.
3. Leakage current and withstand voltage
(1) Leakage current: If the leakage current of the water heater occurs, the leakage current should not be too large, otherwise it will cause danger to the human body. The standard stipulates that the leakage current is calculated by multiplying 0.75mA by each kilowatt. For example, for a 5.5 KW water heater, the leakage current cannot be greater than 5.5*0.75=4.125mA, otherwise it will fail.
(2) Withstand voltage: It is the "electrical strength" of the standard statement, which is to assess the insulating ability of electrical appliances. If the voltage is broken down, there will be danger of leakage and transmission of electricity. The standard stipulates that the electrical appliance must be able to withstand the high voltage of 1250V and 50HZ for 5 seconds.
4. Transformer
When the leakage current is greater than 20mA, the transformer can generate an induced current and provide a leakage signal to the electronic control board, and the electronic board immediately sends an instruction to make the relay trip off and the water heater stops working;
5. Hydropower linkage switch system
There are reed switch, Hall flow sensor, infrared water flow sensor and so on.
6. Thermostat
An automatic switch that controls the temperature. When the outlet water temperature reaches the rated temperature (usually 60°C and 85°C), it will trip, and it will resume when the outlet water temperature drops below the rated temperature. The bottom of the thermostat must be coated with silicone grease. The function of silicone grease is to conduct heat, so as to ensure that the heat is conducted quickly and the thermostat takes off in time.
There are two types of temperature control for instant electric water heaters: one is called over-temperature protection: that is, when the outlet water temperature reaches 55°C or 60°C, the computer automatically controls the heating system and stops heating, and when the outlet water temperature drops below the rated temperature After that, it will resume to reheat;
The other is called anti-dry-burning protection: that is, when the temperature of the outlet water or the heating body reaches 95°C or above, the thermostat will automatically cut off the power supply and stop heating. automatically or manually.
7. Temperature sensor
It is made of a thermistor responsible for the temperature coefficient, and changes in temperature cause changes in the resistance of the temperature sensor. When the temperature of the outlet water increases, the resistance of the temperature sensor will decrease, and the change of this resistance will be converted into a temperature number by the electronic control board and displayed.
8. Relay
Equivalent to the role of a switch, the low voltage (12V) is used to control the on and off of the high voltage (220V). disconnect;
9. Anti-overpressure (water pressure) protection, automatic leakage of pressure relief valve
The standard stipulates that the maximum water pressure that the water heater can withstand is 0.6Mpa (equivalent to a pressure of 6 kg), and the standard of some enterprises is 0.75Mpa, which is stricter than the national standard; in order to protect the body, a pressure relief valve must be installed at the water inlet , If the water outlet of the pressure relief valve drips water, it is generally due to excessive water pressure, and the pressure relief valve will automatically release the pressure, which is a normal situation;
10. Anti-overtemperature protection function
When the outlet water temperature exceeds 55°C, the thermostat will start immediately, the water heater will stop heating, the word over temperature will be displayed, and the heating indicator will go out.
At this time, the working gear of the water heater should be lowered or the water output should be increased. When the outlet water temperature is lower than 50°C, the water heater will automatically retreat to a gear to continue heating;
11. Anti-leakage protection function
According to the national standard, when the leakage current exceeds 30mA, the leakage protection function will act immediately, cut off the power supply, and the word leakage will be displayed at the same time. At this time, the water heater should be stopped immediately, and the manufacturer or the local designated after-sales maintenance network should be contacted.
12. Anti-dry burning protection function
In case of failure of the over-temperature protection function, once the water heater is dry-burning, the manual reset thermostat (about 95°C) will automatically jump to cut off the working circuit to ensure that it will never dry-burn.
